Creativity is the ability to generate new, original, and productive ideas, and is latent in all people.

Yokohama University of Art and Design offers a curriculum (systematized educational content) that draws out the latent creativity within each student, using art and design as tools for learning.

Many art universities generally require students to decide on a specialized department or course of study before their admission. At Yokohama University of Art and Design, however, after entering the school, students will experience various fields of study and then select a specialization that best suits their creativity.

Specifically, in the first semester of the first year, students will study "Painting and Drawing," "Sculpture," "Design," and "Art and Design" as basic skills common to all students. In the second semester, in addition to "Digital Expression," they will select one primary area and one sub area from "Flat Surface Modeling," "Three-dimensional Modeling," "Visual Design," and "Image Media" as cross-disciplinary basic practices to determine their aptitude in each field, and will learn the basic programs thoroughly.

Even if a student already has knowledge and skills in a particular field, it is worthwhile for him or her to learn basic programs in other fields.

By learning knowledge and expressive techniques across disciplines, you will clarify your fields of aptitude and interests, and different perspectives and approaches will deepen your learning and creative activities in your specialized course.

Yokohama University of Art and Design's curriculum, characterized by four cross-disciplinary basic skills to solidify your foundation, the acquisition of basic skills close to the field of specialization to determine your aptitude, and the subsequent course selection from the second year onward, will help you understand diversity, increase your motivation to create art, and amplify your excitement and sparkling sense of style.

Yokohama University of Art and Design's curriculum has already achieved great results as it combines a high employment rate with artistic excellence.

Why don't you experience the excitement of creative activities with your fellow students at Yokohama University of Art and Design, which nurtures students with its distinctive curriculum? We look forward to seeing you soon.
